Biography

Doug Pybus 63 of Dimmitt passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009 in Lubbock.
Doug was born July 24, 1946 in Vernon, Texas to Luther and Frances Pybus. He attended Palo Duro High School. Received his Bachelor and Science degree in Agronomy and Minor in Chemistry at West Texas University in Canyon, Texas. He married Cheryle Greathouse on November 26, 1966 in Amarillo. He was in the Texas National Guard, a member on the First Division WW II Living History Group, Member of the Dimmitt First Baptist Church , member of the Dimmitt Rotary and had received the Paul Harris award, Past Chamber of Commerce President and received the Award of 2002 Citizen Through the Years, He was known as the local yard man, loved the Dallas Cowboys, he loved his country and his community- a proud American , he enjoyed tennis and hunting but his greatest love and focus in life were his grandchildren.
Doug was survived by his wife, Cheryle Pybus of Dimmitt; One Daughter Carla Sells and husband, David of Plainview and three grandchildren, Brantlee, Quinten, Destiny; His mother, Frances Pybus of Amarillo; two brothers, Jerry Pybus and wife Judy, Charles Pybus and wife Jade both of Amarillo; Brother-in-law, Gerald Greathouse and wife Lupe of Roswell, N.M.; three Sister-in-laws, Gaye Keaton of Canyon, Ira Jean Fendley and husband Gregg of Flagstaff, AZ, Jody Rush and husband Stacy of Clovis, NM; Mother-in-law Adalene Greathouse of Amarillo. Nieces and Nephews were Karolyn, Bobby, Bradley, Jason, Clinton, Cristina, Kyle, Dustin, Calie, Leslie, Eric, Tim, Dewayne, Haley, James and Jackey.
Preceded in death by his father, Luther Joe Pybus and father-in-law, Gerald (Blote) Greathouse.
