Biography

Dorthy was born October 4, 1923 in Waxahachie, Texas to Albert and Trecie Phillips Bland. She grew up in Vera, Texas. She married Claude Yates in 1943 in Vernon, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Dimmitt. She worked for Plains Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement; she then worked with her daughter at Snuff Puff & Stuff in Dimmitt. She was a member of Lee Street Baptist Church of Dimmitt.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Campbell and Rosie Fulton both of Dimmitt; one sister, Billie Jo Terry of Hart, Texas and three grandchildren, Bobby Campbell, Susan Elliott and Henry Yates.

Six Great Grandchildren and Four Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claude William Yates in 1980, a son Eddie Campbell, two step-sons Henry Yates and J.R. Yates and two brothers Holden and Henry Bland.
