Abel Quintero Sr.'s Obituary
Abel Quintero Sr. of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 3:00PM in the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady as celebrant. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 6:30PM at the church.
Abel Quintero Sr. was born on September 21, 1927 in San Carlos, Tamaolipas Mexico to Calixto Quintero and Inez (Zarate) Quintero. Abel worked as a farm laborer at a young age and farmed up until his retirement. He married Enedina Quintero on February 9, 1949 in McAllen, Texas. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church and he loved to sing, dance but most of all he enjoyed working hard for his family. The Quintero family would like to express their gratitude to the Castro County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to Samaritan Hospice for all the kindness that was shown to the family.
Abel is survived by 7 daughters, Janie Quintero of San Angelo, TX, Mary Caballero and husband Joe of Abernathy, Sylvia Estrada and husband Humberto of Eldorado, TX, Mary Elizabeth Tijerina of San Diego, CA, Christina Quintero of Dimmitt, TX, Ninfa Velo and husband Jose of Dimmitt, TX and Melissa Carrizales and husband Francisco of Hereford, TX, 4 sons, Abel Quintero Jr. of Ft. Stockton, TX, Tommy Quintero of Turlock, CA, Amos Quintero of Dimmitt, TX and Ruvaldo Quintero of Austin, TX, 1 brother, Humberto Quintero of San Juan, TX, 31 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Abel is preceded in death by his parents, spouse, Enedina Quintero, granddaughter, Virginia Caballero along with numerous brothers and sisters.
