Adam Robert Wethington, 93 of Nazareth, Texas passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 in Dimmitt, Texas.

Rosary will be recited at 10:00AM with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30AM on Thursday in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Ken Keller and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld officiating.  Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.  Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at the funeral home.

Adam Robert Wethington was born on April 6, 1924 in Waterflow, New Mexico to Frederick Charles Wethington and Lottie Berdal (Stallings) Wethington.  Adam grew up and helped on the family farm and then joined the United States Army in 1946 and was stationed in the Philippines and then honorably discharged in 1947.  In 1949 he left for college and finished in 1959 with a Masters of Divinity degree.  He was ordained a priest in the Orders of Friars Minor, Franciscan Order and ministered throughout Texas and New Mexico and spent many years ministering on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico in his 21 years of priesthood.  In 1980 he married Carmen Granado and then became an advanced addiction counselor up until his retirement at the age of 89.  Adam will always be remembered as a compassionate and caring man.

Adam is survived by 3 sisters, Angela Acker and Rita Kern both of Nazareth and Kathaleen Caldwell of Colorado Springs, 1 step-daughter, Lisa Chambers of Round Rock, 2 step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Adam is preceded in death by his spouse, Carmen Wethington and 4 sisters and 1 brother.
