Alberto Rivera Sr., 92, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in Dimmitt.  Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 10:30AM in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Abel Vargas Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 1:00PM – 8:00PM at the funeral home.

Alberto Rivera was born on March 29, 1927 in Weslaco, Texas to Alberto Rivera and Rita (DeLeon) Rivera.  Alberto married Teresa (Aleman) Rivera in Donna, Texas and they moved to the Dimmitt community in 1969.  He worked for Tom Davis servicing and repairing cotton gins for more than 20 years.  Alberto thoroughly enjoyed fishing, planting a yearly garden with both vegetables and flowers for his wife and dancing whenever they could find time.

Alberto is survived by 2 daughters, Dolores Triana and husband Carlos of Dimmitt and Juana Aguero and husband Ruben of Dimmitt, 2 sons, Alberto Rivera and wife Minnie of Dimmitt and Jose Rivera and wife Irma of Dimmitt, 2 sisters, Margarita Gonzalez of Paducah and Maria Benitez of Donna, 1 brother, Jose Rivera of Val Verde, 22 grandchildren along with several great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.

Alberto is preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 daughter, 5 sisters and 1 brother.

The Rivera family would like to thank Dr. Gary Hardee and staff along with Castro County Nursing and Rehabilitation, Country View Living and Gloria Hernandez for the care that was given to Alberto during this time.
