Alva Henderson, 86, of Hart, Texas passed away on June 18, 2012 in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 2:00PM in the First Baptist Church of Hart with Larry Bloskas and Kate Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home. Alva was born on November 21, 1925 in Hart, Texas to Ewell and Vernon Jobe. She was raised in Hart and married R.G. Henderson on March 30, 1946 in Clovis New Mexico. She worked on the family farm with her husband for many years and loved to work in the garden and cook for her family. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Hart. Alva is survived by 2 daughters, Retta Knox and husband David of Hart, and Nelda Ethridge and husband Wayne of Hart, 1 son Rex Henderson and wife Diane of Wasilla, Alaska, 1 sister, Ella Lou Pierce of Lubbock, 6 grandchildren, Cindy Alrimaly, Shelly Howard, Traci Shelton, Melissa Waller, Amanda Crow, and Tami Thunander, 13 great grandchildren. Alva is preceded in death by her husband R.G. Henderson, 1 brother and 1 sister.
