Alvin R. Vasquez, 90, of Dimmitt, TX, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015 in Hereford, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church in Dimmitt with Rev. Raj Arockia and Deacon John Nino officiating, burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary and vigil will be recited at the funeral home at 6:00 PM on Sunday.

Alvin R. Vasquez was born March 1, 1925 in Mason City, Iowa to Juan Vasquez and Eva Martinez Vasquez. He married Maria Davila in 1942 in Crystal City, Texas. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving for 3 years, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Alvin had been employed by Ray Robertson in ranching, Floyd Dickey of Dickey's Dozer Service, and John Deere Implement Co. He was a member of Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church of Dimmitt. His hobbies included: visiting museums and zoos, reading history books, watching war movies and westerns, especially with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, he also enjoyed dancing with his wife, in his younger days.

He is survived by three sons: John R. Vasquez of Terre Ceia, FL, Jesse Vasquez of Dimmitt, TX, and Louis Vasquez of Lubbock, TX. Six daughters: Rose Salazar of Dimmitt, TX, Linda Rodriguez of Greeley, CO, JoAnn Foley of Ft. Worth, TX, Jessica Stemmerdink of San Antonio, TX, Sonia Rivera and Natasha Vasquez both of Lubbock, TX, 24 Grandchildren, 41 Great Grandchildren.
