Andres Navarro, Sr., 79, of Dimmitt passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 in Amarillo.

Andres was born April 22, 1937 in Caldwell County, Texas to Cleofas and Pascaula (Rocha) Navarro. Andres has been a resident of Castro County since 1963.  He married Sofia Tovar on July 7, 1954. Andres worked in the Dimmitt Independent School District for 12 years in the janitorial department, also working seasonal work at the compress for several years. Andres enjoyed playing bingo, coaching, as well as, playing softball and winning several tournaments and many trophies to prove his winnings. He enjoyed cookouts, but above all this he loved family time. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church of Dimmitt.

He is survived by his wife, Sofia Navarro of Dimmitt, four sons; Andres Navarro, Jr. and his wife Elvia, Alejandro Navarro, Oscar Navarro, Sr., and his wife Connie and Sergio Navarro and his wife April all of Dimmitt; three daughters; Maria I. Reyes and her husband Leo, Esmeralda Lopez and Oralia Navarro and her husband Ricardo Segura all of Dimmitt. One sister, Paula Ponciano of McAllen and one brother, Juan Navarro of McAllen. Twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty-five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Rafael Navarro and six brothers, Jesus (Grande), Jesus (Chiquito), Leandro, Antonio, Eusebio and Maximino Navarro, one granddaughter, Selvia Melissa Navarro and one grandson, Rocky Navarro
