Antonio "Tony" Martinez's Obituary
Antonio "Tony" Martinez, 72, of Lubbock, Texas passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 in Lubbock. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 2:00PM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady and Deacon John Niño as celebrants. Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:00PM in the church. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Tony was born on June 3, 1946 in Brownfield, Texas to Jose B. Martinez and Petra (Pauda) Martinez. He mostly grew up in Brownfield, Texas before moving to Dimmitt in 1967. Tony received a technical degree in automotive repair but spent most of his career as a truck driver. He mostly enjoyed being a recorded song writer who lived and celebrated music throughout his life. Tony loved coaching his children baseball while growing up and was very dedicated to his catholic faith. But most importantly he will be remembered as a benevolent father, faithful son and brother and a very loyal Redskin fan. He so loved his children and will be greatly missed.
Tony is survived by his significant other, Amelia Dominguez of Lubbock, daughter, Cindy Hernandez and husband Robert of Tulia, sons, Tony Martinez Jr. and wife Rosa of Hereford, Danny Martinez, Freddy Martinez and wife Heather, Joey Martinez and Coby Martinez all of Lubbock, sisters, Maria Vera, Felis Niño and husband John both of Dimmitt, Rosie Flores and husband Johnny of Castroville, Lydia Ortegon and husband Raul, Gloria Ortegon and husband Randy and Lisa Romero and husband David all of Plainview, brothers, Max Martinez and wife Nora, Juan Martinez and wife Maria, Luis Martinez and Rudy Martinez and wife Bertha all of Dimmitt, 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Estella Hogan.
