Bay Baldridge, 90, of Dimmitt, Texas entered into his eternal reward on August 29, 2021 in Dimmitt, Texas. Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:00AM with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service being held at 2:00PM in the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with Dr. Jonathan Sullivan and Tim Conner (son-in-law) officiating. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home.
W.A. (Bay) Baldridge was born in Hurlwood, Texas on November 17, 1930 to William Allen Baldridge and Luevena (Sullivent) Baldridge. At the age of 3 weeks the family moved to Idalou, Texas where they farmed. He had one sister, Reba and two brothers, Henry (Red) and William (Junior). Bay graduated from Idalou High School in 1949. Bay farmed with his dad and in 1951 he was drafted into the United States Army and then selected into the United States Marines. While in the marines he served in the Korean War Conflict. On October 24, 1953 he married the love of his life Bobbie Hughes in Clovis, New Mexico. They lived in Lubbock where Bay worked for his two brothers and later working for Standard Oil Company. On July 11, 1955, a son, Garry Wayne was born. In 1957 they moved to Levelland, Texas where he farmed with Bobbies daddy. They became members of Hodges Baptist Church in 1957 and Bay was ordained a Deacon in 1964. Then on August 15, 1964, a daughter, Sheril Dian was born. Bay and family moved to Dimmitt, Texas in 1967 where he farmed with his brother, Judge. They also became members of the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt where he served as Deacon for over 47 years. Bay served as Sunday School Director, Training Union Director and Teller for many years. In 1994, Bay retired from farming and then served as Castro County Commissioner for 18 years. He also worked for Cecil Dennis and Colonial Funeral Home in the funeral industry for several years and loved working for Mike and Eva. As we all know, Bay was a people person and never met a stranger.
Bay is survived by his wife, Bobbie Baldridge of Dimmitt, TX, son, Garry Baldridge and wife Vicki of Dimmitt, daughter, Sheril Conner and husband Tim of Amarillo, TX, eight grandchildren, Kevin Baldridge of Amarillo, TX, Hunter Hucks of Pampa, TX, Joe Yokum and wife Anne of Tulsa, OK, Chad Yokum and Kylar of Austin, TX, Craig Conner and wife Alex of Cookville, TN, Heather Fuller and husband Tell of Amarillo, TX, Jessica Gass and husband Houston of Jacksboro, TX, and Kayla Preston and husband DeeJ of Panhandle, TX along with sixteen great-grandchildren and two-great-great-grandchildren.
Bay was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Reba Hollingsworth, brothers, Red Baldridge and Judge Baldridge, grandson, Tyler Hucks and niece, Barbara Bushland.
