Ben Hill, Jr., 94, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in Dimmitt.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 1:00PM at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Sullivan officiating.  Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.  A family and friend visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.

Ben Hill Jr. was born on August 21, 1922 in Memphis, Texas to Ben Hill and Eva (Bradley) Hill.  Ben served in the United States Army Air Corp and was a WWII veteran.  He attended Texas Tech University and later was the owner and operator of Ben's Foods for many years.  Through the years Ben and his family spent time at Concha's Lake and a cherry orchard in Montana which they owned.  He and Bernice spent many winter months in Padre Island.  Ben was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt and he enjoyed golfing with his friends, fishing, and tinkering with things around the house.

Ben is survived by a son, Ben Hill III and wife Denise of Amarillo, and a daughter, Evelyn Cummins Heins and husband Robert of Plattsburgh, New York, 8 grandchildren, Erika Sydow, Cheryl Karpel, Craig Heins, Valerie Shortridge, Jennifer Farmer, Alicia Hill, David Hill and Berkley Voran, 9 great-grandchildren, Megan Karpel, Joshua Karpel, Noah Heins, Emmy Heins, Kayla Shortridge, Eric Shortridge, Kristen Shortridge, MacKenzie Farmer and Holden Farmer, 1 great-great grandchild, Tegan Shortridge.

Ben is preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Hill and a sister, Eloise Moss.
