Bessie Strickland, 86, of Amarillo passed away January 4, 2016 in Amarillo, Texas.

Bessie was born August 8, 1929 to Luther and Annie Thornton in Seagraves, Texas. She married Durward Strickland on January 7, 1949 in Spur, Texas. She has been a resident of Dimmitt since 1957 she worked in the ASCS office and worked for DISD for 25 years. She is a member of the First Baptist Church and was a Charter member for Lee Street Baptist Church. She liked to cook and entertain.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by a daughter Beth Roberts of Amarillo and 2 sons, Butch Strickland of Anchorage Alaska and Lonnie Strickland of Amarillo, 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
