Bette Jean White, 83, formerly of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014 in Van Alstyne, Texas. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 in the Fourth and Bedford Church of Christ with her grandson, Casey Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. A family visitation will be held on January 1, 2015 from 6:00PM to 7:00PM for family only and a public visitation from 7:00PM to 8:00PM. Bette was born on January 8, 1931 in Mobeetie, Texas to Harvey and Alma Alverson. Bette married N.C. White Jr. on August 21, 1947. Bette worked at Dimmitt Supermarket for over 35 years and Bruegal and Sons Elevator for 12 years. Bette was a member of Eastern Star and a faithful lifetime member of the Church of Christ. She loved to cook, read, play the piano, watch sports and spending time with her family and friends. Bette was known for her generous spirit and will be deeply missed by those who loved her. Bette is survived by her children, Jimmy White and wife Charlene of Buda, Texas, Judy Walker and husband Darrell of Terrell, Texas, David White and wife Janie of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Shelly Crabtree and husband Tim of Howe, Texas, a younger brother, Don Alverson of Poulsbo, Washington and a younger sister, Janie Sudderth of Bovina, Texas. She was a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, N.C.
