Billy Gene Ewing, 61, of Plainview, formerly of Dimmitt passed away on March 5, 2013 in Lubbock. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 10:00AM in the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt with Rev. Alfred Sanders and Rev. Willie Ewing officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Billy was born on June 21, 1951 in Terry County, Texas to Robert Earl Ewing and Beatrice Mayes Ewing. He was raised in Dimmitt and lived most of his life there. He moved to Plainview in 2002 and farmed there. While living in Dimmitt he worked for Dan Nelson for 15 years. He enjoyed cooking, listening to music, joking with friends and family while giving everyone a good laugh, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Billy is survived by 3 sons, Billy Gene Ewing, Jr. of Plainview, Edward Ewing of Dimmitt, and Quinton Ewing of Paris, TX, 1 daughter, Katrina Ewing of Paris, TX, 8 brothers, Willie Ewing of Lubbock, Albert Ewing, Richard Earl Ewing, Timothy Joe Ewing, and John Fitzgerald Ewing all of Dimmitt, Robert Earl Ewing of Baltimore, Donald Gene Ewing of Hereford, and Michael James Ewing of Denton, 5 sisters, Mary Smith of Snyder, OK, Robbie Mae Walker, Cora Worsham, and Bernice Ewing all of Denton, and Mary Ewing of Dimmitt. 11 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 1 niece and 2 nephews.
