Billy Joe Farris, 65, of Hart, TX passed away on July 7, 2011 in Lubbock. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10:30AM in the First Baptist Church of Hart with Rev. Matt Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6:00PM - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Barry Homfeld, Flynn Farris, Adrian Farris, Logan Bradley, Coy Myrick, Cody Myrick, and Alston Farris. Billy Joe Farris was born on Sept. 12, 1945 in Dimmitt, TX to Loyd and Augusta Farris. He grew up in Hart and graduated from Hart High School. He married Connie Popejoy on July 10, 1964 in Dimmitt. He was a farmer and cattleman in Hart. He moved to Dalhart in 1971 where he also farmed and raised cattle before moving back to Hart in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Connie Farris of Hart, 2 sons, Kirk Farris and wife Sandy of Nazareth, and Tim Farris and wife Shelly of Nazareth, 2 brothers Ronnie Farris and wife Carole of Dalhart, and Ricky Farris and wife Denise of Amarillo, 8 grandchildren Zachary Farris and wife Lacey, Maegan Rowland and husband Jordy, Zane Farris, Trey Farris, Hanna Farris, Tate Farris, Halle Farris and Trew Farris, 2 great grandchildren, Copper Farris and Aubree Rowland.
