Billy W. Hackleman, 97, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in Dimmitt, Texas.
Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 3:00PM in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Coby Gilbreath officiating.  Local arrangements are under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Billy Wade Hackleman was born on March 27, 1927, in Dimmitt, Texas to William Roy Hackleman and Ina Belle (Scarbrough) Hackleman.  Billy was a lifelong resident of Dimmitt, Texas.  He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1945 and then shortly thereafter joined the United States Army.  He served during the WWII era with the rank of Seargent Billy Hackleman and was a personal driver for General Dwight D. Eisenhower.  That is where he met the love of his life Ruth (Bresko) Hackleman and they were married on April 11, 1947, in Disputanta, Virginia.  After serving in the Army, they moved back to Dimmitt where Billy started working for Higginbotham's.  He later went to work for Federal Land Bank, and then worked as the hospital administrator for the Dimmitt Hospital, was a car salesman for Orval Watson Ford in Hereford and then became Castro County's Tax Accessor for several years prior to his retirement.  Billy was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt where he served as Deacon for many years.
Billy was an avid water skier as a young man and throughout his adult life and he was always willing to help family and friends learn how to ski.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his nephew, Russell Stringfield and wife Kay of Dimmitt, TX, great-nieces, Stephanie Moseley and husband Bo of The Colony, and Christie Johnston of Carrollton, TX along with great-grand nieces and nephews, Brandon Johnston, Shelby Johnston, Aidan Moseley, and Mackenzie Moseley.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Willam Roy Hackleman and Ina Belle Hackleman, son, Gary Wade Hackleman, brother, Rondia Hackleman and sister, Jewell Hackleman.
