Brigitta Marie Dobmeier, 102, of Nazareth, Texas passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019 in Dimmitt, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 10:30AM in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Bhaskar Adusupalli, Deacon Bob Birkenfeld and Deacon Joe Hochstein as celebrants. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 6:30PM with vigil services following at the church.
Brigitta Marie Dobmeier was born on June 7, 1916 to Frank Hochstein and Anna (Fernholz) Hochstein in Fordyce Nebraska. Brigitta grew up in Fordyce, Nebraska where she obtained her first years of schooling. She continued her education by attending Mount Marty Academy in Yankton, South Dakota where she graduated in 1934. She then continued her studies at Sacred Heart Hospital Training school for nurses in Yankton, South Dakota, graduating as a registered nurse in July 1937. After completion of her nursing degree, she moved to Texas to help care for her sister who resided in Nazareth. She was employed immediately by Dr. Miller and Dr. Cogswell in Dimmitt, Texas.
She married Leo Dobmeier on February 22, 1938 in Fordyce, Nebraska and they established their home in Nazareth.
Brigitta was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church, charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and their 1st Grand Regent, member of the Christian Mother's Society and also a charter member of the Nazareth Senior Citizens. She enjoyed spending time and caring for babies, embroidery, quilting, raising plants, playing cards and other types of games, but most of all she loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Judy Irlbeck and husband David of Grygla, MN, Allen Dobmeier and wife Stephanne of Nazareth, TX, Janice Johnson and husband Joe Dee of Nazareth, TX, Susan Murff and husband Dennis of Manchaca, TX, Gail McCandless and husband Robert of Livingston, TX, Gene Dobmeier of Grygla, MN, Rena Hellstein and husband Tim of Seabrooke, TX, Elaine Culver and husband Mike of Levelland, TX, Neil Dobmeier and wife Suzanne of Gardendale, TX and Glenn Dobmeier of Austin, TX, 32 Grandchildren, 63 Great-Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leo, two sons, Ronald and Richard, daughter, Mary Ann, two grandsons, Shane Irlbeck and Justin Bush, daughter-in-law, Jackie Dobmeier and three brothers and five sisters.
