Carl Dean Carson, 62, of Sunnyside, Texas passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be Saturday at First Baptist Church of Dimmitt at 10:00 AM with Brother David Harp officiating, graveside services to be at 4:30PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, Texas. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Carl grew up in the community of Sunnyside and attended school in Dimmitt, graduating in 1970. He attended South Plains College and later went on to computer school and completed a 6 month course. He married Terrie Newton on June 10, 1972. They lived in Sunnyside, where Carl farmed for 11 years. In 1981 Carl went to work for Farm Bureau Insurance. In 1983 he was made manager of Martin County Farm Bureau while he was living in Stanton, 2 years later Midland, Ector, Rankin and Upton counties were added to Martin County Farm Bureau. Carl Dean's first year in Farm Bureau he was awarded Rookie of the Year, considering he said he couldn't sell insurance, this was very rewarding to him. He made lots of close friends over the years in Farm Bureau and the communities where he and his wife lived. He loved going to his boy's football games, and stock showing with them. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends and playing cards when the opportunity arose. Carl Dean, Terrie and the boys had the opportunity to travel quite a bit because of the trips he won through Farm Bureau. He loved seeing new places and sharing them with his family and friends. He retired from Farm Bureau in 2005 and moved back to Sunnyside to pursue his love for farming. In 2012 he and Terrie purchased the Sunnyside Farm Store. He loved helping other friends and farmers in their daily work. He enjoyed telling stories to whoever would visit with him. He and Terrie have 5 grandchildren and he thought the world of each one of them. He is survived by his wife Terrie Carson of Sunnyside; 2 sons Deakon Carson and his wife Chelcy of Georgetown, Texas and Joshua Carson and his wife Tiffany of Stanton, Texas; his mother Lillian Carson of Sunnyside, 2 sisters Louise Carson and her husband Richard Armstrong of Lubbock and Resa Carson of Lubbock; 1 brother Gene Carson and his wife Bonnie of Dodge City, Kansas; 5 grandchildren Evan and Chloe Carson of Georgetown and Colby, Brittyn and Trisity Carson of Stanton. He is preceded in death by his father Carl Houston Carson.
