Carmen Martinez, 82, of Dimmitt passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 in Amarillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church of Dimmitt with Rev. Joseph Ravi officiating burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Rosary and vigil to be said Sunday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Carmen was born November 24, 1929 in Mexico to Manuel and Denise Cruz Martinez. She has been a resident of Dimmitt for 25 years. She enjoyed her garden and keeping her house clean and tidy. She was a homemaker. She is survived by a daughter Irma Prieto and her husband Benjamin Prieto of Dimmitt; Four grandchildren; Ben, Samuel, Daniel and Armando Prieto all of Dimmitt; 1 sister Hilaria Ortega Martinez of Mexico; several nieces, Denise Vera and Candy Martinez of Plainview, Maria Martinez of Midland and a nephew Carlos Martinez of Mexico. She is preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Antonio, Manuel, Merejildo and Candelario Martinez. 3 Sisters, Natalie, Guadalupe and Juana Martinez.
