Carole Cleavinger Dyer, of Dimmitt went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2015. She was living at Quail Ridge Care Center in Lubbock. She had lived in Lubbock for the last 3 years but had lived in Dimmitt most of her adult life. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Dimmitt at 2:00 PM with Rev. T.C. Broom officiating and burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family and friend visitation will be Saturday afternoon at 4:00-5:30 PM at Diane Sanders home, 611 Maple, Dimmitt, Texas Carole was born on May 26, 1924 in Hereford, Texas to Norman and Gladys Cleavinger. She graduated from Springlake High School in 1941, then graduated from Texas Tech in 1945. She married Goldman Dyer in August of 1945 and moved to Dimmitt where her family was involved in the farm implement business. She taught school for many years at Dimmitt and was actively involved in her church and community. She taught schools for 15 years and later worked as dietician at the hospital. She served on Dimmitt City Council and was also Chairperson for the Castro County Democratic Party. Through her involvement in her church and community she was committed to making the area a better place to live. She was acknowledged for her commitment by being named Citizen Through the Years. Carole was especially devoted to her family as they remained her primary focus throughout her life. She is survived by 3 daughters Ruth Bennett and her husband Harold Bob of Lubbock; Diane Sanders of Dimmitt, Lori Wilhite and husband Robert of Canyon and a son-in-law Bernie Ford of Lockney. She is also survived by 2 sisters Lois Wales of Dimmitt and Norma Dawson of Lubbock, 2 brothers Jim Cleavinger of Dimmitt and Orville Cleavinger of Springlake, and she is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren all of whom lovingly know her as MeMa. She is preceded in death by her husband, Goldman Dyer, her son Richard Dyer, a daughter Cindy Ford, a son-in-law Joe Bob Sanders and a brother Ronald Cleavinger.
