Carolina Olvera Bermea was born on September 25, 1945 in Raymondville Texas to Tiburcio 'Butch' Olvera and San Juana Olvera. She was born the second of eight children. Her brothers and sisters include:  Juan Davila of Houston, Margaret Gamboa of Plainview, David Olvera of Nazareth, Pedro Olvera of Tye, Ruben Olvera of Dimmitt, Rachel Presas of Colorado Springs Colorado, and the late Jesse Olvera of Nazareth.

The Olvera family permanently moved to Nazareth Texas in 1959. Carolina attended school in Nazareth but had to leave school for a few years to care for the family when San Juana fell ill. Carolina knew education was important and later completed her high school equivalent certification.  The Olvera family and the Bermea family worked closely together in those days. This would bring Carolina and Elias together and the two would be married on August 16, 1962.

Carolina became a mother but also worked in the housekeeping department for a nursing home. She reached the level of supervisor before retiring in 2009. She and Elias raised ten children and Carolina later adopted two grandsons as her sons. Her children are Norma Bermea of Amarillo, Ricardo Bermea of Lorena, Mary Espinosa of Waco, Delia Glaze of Hewitt, Edwardo Bermea of Oklahoma, Valerie Bermea of Amarillo, Andres Bermea of Amarillo, Johnny Bermea of Amarillo, Nicholas Bermea of New Braunfels, and Reynaldo Bermea of Nazareth. The adopted sons are Marcus Bermea of Amarillo and Jacob Bermea of Dallas. Carolina had thirty-nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Carolina loved to spend time with family and especially her grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren. She was the caretaker of the family and loved to help in every way. She was a hard working and very motivated individual. She expressed a special level of kindness and respect. She was always willing to do what was necessary with or for her family and friends.  She is deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Carolina died at home on March 9, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was in the company of family and in the thoughts of many family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, grandson, and granddaughter.
