Catherine Huseman, 84, of Nazareth, Texas passed away and gained her heavenly wings on Thursday, April 2, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2020 at 10:00AM in Holy Family Cemetery with Rev. Bhaskar Adusupalli as celebrant. Viewing will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2020 from 1:00PM – 5:00PM for the family with local funeral arrangements being under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Due to the mandates that have been place upon us because of the COVID-19 virus, the graveside service will be livestreamed on Colonial Funeral Home Facebook page. The Huseman family is asking those to please recite the rosary, wherever you should be at 1:00PM on Sunday and if you are not of the Catholic faith, please say a prayer in memory of Catherine.
Catherine Huseman was born on August 22, 1935 in Dimmitt, Texas to Leslie Backus and Helen (Venhaus) Backus. She was a lifelong resident of Nazareth and graduated from Nazareth High School. She married Arnold Huseman in Nazareth, Texas where they together raised 10 children. Catherine was involved in Mother's Day Out for many years as well as an active member of the Nazareth Senior Citizens. She was always a mother and grandmother who enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports while growing up. Catherine also enjoyed crafts, playing cards, making corsages for weddings, proms and for many other occasions as well as being a huge Texas Rangers fan. Catherine was a lifelong member of the Holy Family Catholic Church where she was a faithful servant and very active in the Christian Mothers Society. But most of all Catherine will be remembered all across the county for her homemade cinnamon rolls and the love she had for all of her family.
Catherine is survived by her children, Emaline Pohlmeier and husband Ralph of Yukon, OK, Bernie Huseman and wife Wanda of Hereford, TX, Darrell Huseman and wife Jody of Nazareth, TX, Lenora Braddock and husband Cecil of Nazareth, TX, Derwin Huseman and wife Vera of Nazareth, TX, Marlene Acker and husband Dale of Nazareth, TX, Bryan Huseman and wife Mary Jo of Lubbock, TX, Virgil Huseman and wife Dianne of Nazareth, TX, Anita Fischbacher and husband Ken of Canyon, TX and Craig Huseman and wife Amy of Archer City, TX, 2 brothers, Hubert Backus and wife Joan of Nazareth, TX and Fritz Backus and wife Connie of Hereford, TX, 34 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Helen Backus, husband, Arnold Huseman and a brother, Edmund Backus.
