Cedric Earl Ward passed away on August 17, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 53.

Cedric was born on May 21, 1973, in Dimmitt, Texas, to Sandra Ward and Willie Roy Hood. He lived with his grandmother, Ora Lee Ward, and attended Dimmitt ISD before later moving to Plainview, where he attended Plainview High School.

Cedric worked in construction for many years and took pride in his work.

A devoted and proud fan, Cedric loved “Dem Boy’s,” the Dallas Cowboys. Cedric was outgoing and never met a stranger. He was funny, dependable, reliable, and generous, always willing to help anyone in need. His joyful spirit and love for life will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Cedric was preceded in death by his grandparents Jake and Ora Lee Ward and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hood; and his nephew Demarkell Hood.

Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Stormie Bossett and Deja Preston; sons, Derrick Barron and Javorea Preston, Jamarquit Ward (Lil Willie); granddaughter, AnaLiyah Kelly; parents, Sandra Ward and Willie Roy Hood; brothers Dewayne Ward, Kelvin Hood, Walter Ward, and Willie Hood, Jr.; sisters Candi Hood, Kimberly Hood, Jayme Gonzales, and Latisha Hood; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 2:00PM at Colonial Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt under the care and direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
