Celia Reyes Alvarez, 87, of Dimmitt passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dimmitt with Rev. Raj Arockia and Deacon John Nino officiating, burial to follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Dimmitt. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary and vigil services will be held at her residence.

Celia was born January 31, 1929 to Benito and Martina (Leal) Reyes in Rio Grande, Texas. She has been a resident of Dimmitt since 1949. She has been a homemaker and mother raising all her children and cooking for them the majority of her life. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Dimmitt and the Guadalupanas. Her hobbies were sewing, making quilts, crocheting, bingo, dancing but most of all she loved spending time with her family; she was a wonderful mother.

She is survived by her children; San Juana Moreno , Librado Alvarez, Maria Camacho, Isabel Alvarez, Joe Alvarez all of Dimmitt; Anna Alvarez of Mascot, FL, Frank Alvarez of Plainview and Martin Alvarez of Dallas; four sisters Emelda Saenz, Elida Gonzales both of Dimmitt, Fidilla Rodriguez of Lubbock and Lupe Macias of San Antonio; she is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Benito and Martina (Leal) Reyes, her husband Jose Santos Alvarez, Sr., a daughter Maria Oviedo, three sons Ruben, Armando and Juan Jose Alvarez and two grandsons Richard Villegas and John-John Alvarez.
