Charlene Washington of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Tuesday evening on July 25, 2023, at home at the age of seventy years.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11:00AM at Fourth & Bedford Church of Christ with Mr. King Burney officiating.  The family will receive friends on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Charlene Washington was born on November 7, 1952, in Longview, Texas to Fletcher Willis and Ruth (Johnson) Willis.  She moved to Tulia, Texas at a young age and graduated from Tulia High School.  She later attended South Plains College and Odessa Junior College and then graduated from the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) with a Bachelor of Education Degree.  Charlene worked for Seagraves ISD for 20 years, Springlake-Earth ISD and retired from Dimmitt ISD after a long and gratifying career.  Charlene married E.L. Washington on February 12, 2010, at Fourth & Bedford Church of Christ and spent many happy years together.
Charlene loved apples and sunflower décor and was always decorating her home.  She was very creative in all the things that she did.  Throughout her years she was always up for traveling and seeing different parts of the country.  She had a smile that would light up the room every time one saw her.  That smile and her love for her family will always be cherished.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, E.L. Washington of Dimmitt, three children, Stephen Wayne Hall and wife Christi of Odessa, Benjamin V'Dale Henderson and wife Donice of Midland, and Venisha Lynn Henderson of Austin, five stepchildren, Darrell Washington of Lubbock, Tammie Washington of Dallas, Kimberly Washington of Odessa, Prentiss Washington of Amarillo, and Priscilla Washington of Amarillo, three brothers, Mark Willis of Colorado, Frankie Willis of Casa Grande, AZ, and Wayne Willis of California, two sisters, Barbara Jennings of Casa Grande, AZ, and Mildred Whitfield of Casa Grande, AZ, fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Veotis Henderson, two brothers, Norman Willis, and Willie Willis and two sisters, Jean Thomas, and Nellie Hall.
