Charles Oswald Heck, 78 formally of Nazareth, Texas passed away January 1, 2016 in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday January 11, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth, Texas with Rev. Ken Keller and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld officiating. Rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M. with prayer Vigil following at Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas.
Charles was born May 17, 1937 to Charles Heck Sr. and Helena Leinen Heck. He was the baby of 16 children, he attended Nazareth Schools until the eighth grade. He married Ann Dowty Heck in December of 1954 and they had nine children together. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, received the Star Young Farmer Award in the State of Texas and served on the Nazareth School Board. He was a long time farmer and farmed in Nazareth, Sunray and the Dumas area until the mid- 1980's. He moved to Dalhart for agricultural employment and met his Fiancee Wanda Dye. He later moved to Amarillo and was a resident of Plum Creek Center.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Dwayne Heck, and the mother of his children, Ann Heck, his fiancee, Wanda Dye, 3 brothers and 11 sisters. He is survived by, two sons, Charles Lee Heck and wife Kim of Wilmington, NC, Morgan Heck and wife Shannon of Sunray, Six Daughters: Dolores Palmer and husband John Duggan of Amarillo, Belinda Heck of Albuquerque, NM, Beverly Abshere and husband Phil of Albuquerque, NM, Tammy Black and husband Chad of Hart. Charlotte Motley of Olton, Darlene Miller and husband Randy of Darrouzett, one sister, Calista Huber of Amarillo, 17 grandchildren with 1 on the way and 10 great grandchildren.
