C hris Venhaus, 48, of Nazareth, Texas, formerly of West Jordan, Utah passed away from this earth on Sunday, December 22, 2019 in Nazareth Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00PM in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Bhaskar Adusupalli, Deacon Bob Birkenfeld and Deacon Joe Hochstein as celebrants. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home. The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 7:00PM in the church.
Christopher Paul Venhaus was born on February 1, 1971 in Amarillo, Texas to Harold Venhaus and Peggy (McDonald) Venhaus. Chris was a very intelligent person who was never idle with his studies and who graduated from Utah State University and taught himself computer programming in multiple computer languages and amassed a very nice book collection on spirituality, mathematics and programming. Chris went through a lot in his life dealing with Type 1 diabetes, losing his right leg and then being diagnosed with Melanoma. Chris never felt sorry for himself and approached each obstacle as God's will moving forward and adjusting his life as necessary. He was always easy to talk with and have a conversation about most any topic or just as easy sit in silence. Chris was a very charitable person and was always very generous and giving to those less fortunate.
Chris loved to play soccer while in school and became a very good player. He also loved horseracing and was known to place a bet or two on the races from time to time and he was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. Chris will always be remembered as a spiritual person who was happy in self-reflection and prayer, one who loved his son, Joseph very much and who was always willing to go and watch him play soccer throughout his high school and college career. But most of all Chris was a proud grandfather of his first granddaughter, Navy Venhaus.
Chris is survived by his son, Joseph "Joe" Venhaus of Paradise, UT, father, Harold Venhaus and wife Kay of Nazareth, TX, mother, Peggy Ellison and husband Farrell of Queen Creek, AZ, brother, Scott Venhaus and wife Julie of Castle Rock, CO, sister, Laura Petersen of Firth, ID, 4 grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents.
