Clay Lynn (Cakie) Davis, 94, went home to be with his beloved wife of 50 years, on July 21, 2026.

Clay was born and raised in the village of Cone, Texas east of Lubbock to Ben and Lois (Teal) Davis, where he was a farmer, bookkeeper, cotton gin manager for Cone Gin. He graduated from Ralls High School in 1950. Clay was an avid golfer and member of the Floydada Country Club and the Dimmitt Country Club for many years, participating in many scrambles and tournaments.

In 1980 he and his wife relocated to Dimmitt, Texas to be part-owner and manager of Flagg Farmers Gin then retiring from North Gin in Dimmitt.

Clay is preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Blair) Davis, his parents, his brother and sister-in- law, Neil and Veva Davis and brother Noel Davis.

Survivors include his 5 children, Glenn Davis of Rosharon, Texas, Kayla and Jesse Moore of Grand Junction, Colorado, Melony Barnett of Amarillo, Texas, Tresa and Dennis Haimerl of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Clay Bryan and Deanna Davis of Dimmitt, Texas along with 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Our Dad was greatly loved and will be missed for his guidance and love. There will be a hole in our family where he once was. May God bless his soul.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00AM at Colonial Funeral Chapel with a visitation starting at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
