Courtenay S. Armstrong, 80, of Dimmitt passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Dimmitt. Courtenay was born on July 27, 1932 in San Angelo, TX to John and Sophie Skeete. She attended Texas Tech University and Baylor University. Courtenay touched the lives of so many through her years of substitute teaching. She loved the kids and they loved her. Courtenay started the Brownie Scouts in 1956, Cub Scouts in 1960 and the Jaycee-Ette's in 1956. She was a member of the Garden Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. Her hobbies were needle point, reading, tending to her yard and loved making beef jerky, but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Courtenay had that sweet, friendly attitude and never meet a stranger, to know her was to love her. Pallbearers for Courtenay's service will be Tommy Cleavinger, Coby Gilbreath, Dudley Wooten, Rick Wright, Scott Sheffy, Mike Odom and Jay Lindley. The Armstrong family would like to send a Special Thank You to her friend and caregiver, Ninfa Velo. She is survived by her 3 sons, Brent Armstrong and his wife Rachel of Broadview, NM; Scott Armstrong and his wife Lee Ann of Perkins, OK, and Ross Armstrong and his wife Shayla of Amarillo; 1 daughter Laura Nettles and her husband Wayne of Gainesville. 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 nieces and 1 nephew. She is preceded in death by 2 sons, Craig and Clay Armstrong and 1 sister Margaret Foster.
