Cristina Montes, 80, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on December 15, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 2:00PM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady and Deacon Severo Alvarado as celebrants.  Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.  Rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 6:00PM with vigil service following in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.

Cristina (Marta) Montes was born on July 24, 1937 in Jimenez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Valentin Marta and Matilde Marta.  In February of 1954, she married the love of her life Andres Montes in Jimenez, Chihuahua, Mexico.  She was a devoted wife and mother caring for her husband and raising seven children.  Cristina was a loving "Buelita" to 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  She was so proud of her family and loved them dearly.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening and collecting family photos.  She was a devout Catholic who remained faithful and obedient to her Lord until the very end.  Cristina was loved and will be deeply missed.

Cristina is survived by her spouse  of 64 years, Andres Montes of Dimmitt, 7 children, Danny Montes and wife Donna of Lubbock, TX, Patty Ogas and husband Jerry of El Paso, TX, Elsa Montes-Valdez and husband James of Lubbock, TX, Lupe Quinonez of Amarillo, TX, Eva Abrego of Lubbock, TX, Chole Ortiz and husband Sal of Dimmitt, TX and Carolina Montes of Lubbock, TX, 3 sisters, Rosa, Otilia and Elena, 2 brothers, Valentin Marta of Mexico and Alvaro Marta, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandhildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Valentin and Matilde Marta, 2 sisters, Carolina Sosa and Ernestina Marta, 1 brother, Manuel Marta and a son-in-law, Tino Quinonez.
