Dale Winders, 86, of Lubbock formerly of Dimmitt passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 10:00 AM at the Agape United Methodist Church, located at 1215 Slide Rd., Lubbock, TX. with Pastor Larry Springer, Paul Harbin and Tory Bryant officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt, Texas. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family and friend visitation will be Tuesday evening at the church in Lubbock at 6:30-8:30PM.

Dale was born in Castro County, Texas to Lebon Dudley and Willie (Holloway) Winders on June 30, 1930. He joined the United States Airforce in 1950-1954. He married the love of his life, Marie Howell on March 2, 1951. Dale and Marie lived in the Flagg Community, where he farmed and ranched till his retirement in 2007. Dale and Marie were members of the First United Methodist Church of Dimmitt for many years; he served on the Administrative Board and was Finance Chairman. Dale was a Castro County Commissioner for 16 years and a past board member of the Castro County Museum. Dale played with his granddaughter in the Lanny Fiel & the Ranch Dance Fiddle Band and the Flatland Blue Grass Band. In 2007 Dale and Marie moved to Lubbock to be closer to their children. They were members of the Agape United Methodist Church of Lubbock. Dale enjoyed watching bull riding on television due to the fact in his younger days he was a rodeo clown; he also rode a unicycle and a big wheel bike in the surrounding parades, not only in his younger days, but when he was 70 years old. He enjoyed water skiing in irrigated ditches, but above all this his greatest love was his wife, his daughters and his grandchildren. He loved helping and attending his grandchildren's activities and eating ice cream with them. Dale was a Big Family Man at heart.

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Marie Winders of Lubbock, two daughters, Vicki Bryant and husband Mike of Graham and Marla Harbin and husband Paul of Lubbock; one sister, Jo Brinkerhoff of Littleton, CO., six grandchildren, Tory Bryant and wife Lee, Derek Bryant and wife April, Kalli Burk and husband Michael, Leah Wallace and husband Steven, Hannah Harbin and Maddie Harbin and nine great grandchildren, Devyn & Zeke Bryant, Tinlee, Gunnar, Harper, Kai and Joli Bryant and Ada and Elli Burk and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Bud Winders, Monk Winders, Jay Winders and Dud Winders and four sisters, Cleacy Layman, Pauline Simmons, Madge Kennedy and Gene Faulkner
