Darryl was born on June 13th, 1946, to Sonny and Mildred Ball in Dimmitt, Texas. He passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, in Nazareth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Arokiaraj, Deacon Bob Birkenfeld, and Deacon Joe Hochstein as celebrants.  Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.  Rosary will be recited on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 6:00PM at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Darryl was a cowboy through and through with a great love for horses and a gentle soul.  He had a way with all sorts of animals, always bringing home injured and strays, including once bringing home four orphaned baby skunks in his cowboy hat.
Darryl had a God given talent for art, which emerged as early as first grade. Much to the dismay of Sister Herman Joseph, his version of writing his name consisted of drawing a picture of a horse head. Darryl continued drawing and painting western scenes throughout his life.
Darryl served in the army before marrying the love of his life, Rose Duesterhaus on June 5th, 1971.  Together, they raised four beautiful daughters and one ornery son, and were blessed with eight grandchildren. When Darryl wasn't wrangling children or working for the county, he enjoyed training horses, and once, he even won a foot race against one.
Darryl enjoyed a good rodeo, watching westerns, and of course, lovingly picking on his grandkids.  Listening to Hank Williams Sr. and eating ice cream also ranked high on his list. Darryl lived life to the fullest and appreciated a good adventure and a little mischief. From horseback riding trips in New Mexico to laughs around a campfire, Tom and Jim Hoelting and Buck Jones shared his love of the western lifestyle and their lifelong friendship will always be treasured.
He is survived by his wife Rose and their children Tami Albracht and husband Dale, Lisa Backus and husband Larry, Trampas Ball and wife Kendra, Misti Schacher and husband Tyler, and Kira Schulte and husband Kit.  He will also be missed by his eight grandchildren, Haegen Albracht, Brooklin Albracht, Creed Backus, Camden Backus, Lily Schacher, Khloe Schacher, Dayne Schulte, and Cooper Schulte.  He is also survived by siblings Odetta, Twila, Renea & Kyle. Darryl was proceeded in death by his parents, Sonny and Mildred Ball, and siblings Pat, Valeria, Sherlyn and Kirk.
Though not a man of many words, Darryl's smile and the twinkle in his eyes was his way of showing his thanks and love. The family would like to thank everyone that has helped us through this journey and send a special thank you to Interim Hospice care team, Rebecca, Shonda and Crystal for the compassion shown to our Dad and his entire family.  God puts the people you need in your path. Dad had both a beautiful life and a peaceful passing.
