Don Elliott, 77, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 2:00PM in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Bailey Chisum and Bobby Campbell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the funeral home.
Don Elliott was born on May 29, 1942 in Coronado, California to Melvin Elliott and Mildred (Garrett) Elliott. In 1964, Don met Patricia (Trish) Chandler and they married on November 5, 1965 in Tulia and have celebrated 54 years of marriage. Don and Trish have lived in the Dimmitt community since 1973. Don worked as a proud police officer for 15 years serving Hereford, Tulia, Hart and Dimmitt. In 1980, Don opened Don's Body Shop and Wrecker Service in Dimmitt which he owned and operated along next to his son Tim. Don was a faithful member of Fourth & Bedford Church of Christ, member of Dimmitt Chamber of Commerce, and a member of CUFUPU. Don was always willing to mow and help with the upkeep of the "Welcome to Dimmitt" signs around the community. In 2011, Don and Trish were voted the Grand Marshalls of the Castro County Harvest Days Parade. Don will always be known for his honesty, his integrity and his willingness to always lend a helping hand when needed. Most importantly, Don loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Trish Elliott of Dimmitt, TX, 2 sons, Wade Elliott and wife Sary of Lacona, NY and Tim Elliott and wife Susan of Dimmitt, TX, sister, Ellena Lee and husband Rodney of Grapevine, TX, grandchildren, Dustin Venhaus and wife Skyla of Dimmitt, TX, Coby Venhaus and wife Brianda of Amarillo, TX, Gracie Elliott, Austin Elliott, Hailey Elliott and Teddie Elliott all of Lacona, NY and Emily Elliott of Dimmitt, TX, along with great grandchildren, Troy Venhaus and Bennett Venhaus of Dimmitt, TX.
Don is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Turner and step-father, Henry Turner, his father, Melvin Elliott, and brother, Carroll Lee Elliott.
