Dorothy Pohlmeier, 89, of Nazareth passed away at her home on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Nazareth surrounded by her loving children and devoted husband of 67 years, Leroy Pohlmeier. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00AM in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Ken Keller and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home. Rosary and Vigil Service will begin on Monday at 7:30 in the Holy Family Catholic Church. Dorothy was born on December 31, 1923 to the late John and Meta Stork in Hereford, Texas and was one of nine children. She was raised in Nazareth and began her education at Jumbo, which was not far from her family's home. She finished her schooling at Nazareth and graduated in 1941. Following her graduation, Dorothy attended San Jacinto School of Beauty Culture and graduated in 1942. She fashioned many haircuts and perms over the years from her home-based salon. Dorothy had been a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth, and was a dedicated member of the Christian Mothers Society and the Legion Auxiliary. She will be remembered for her prayerful spirit and dedication to lighting candles to hold in prayer for those in her family and community who were experiencing hardship. Dorothy found great joy in tending to her beautiful garden of both flowers and vegetables. This joy extended into her kitchen, where smells of homemade rolls, chicken fried steak, and kuchen bread welcomed her family and friends. Dorothy was an expert seamstress and her homemade football-shaped pillows, featuring the Nazareth School colors, were always in high demand. She derived great pleasure from partaking in her children and grandchildren's countless sporting events. Dorothy will be remembered for her warm hospitality, graciousness, loving devotion to her family and faith-filled living. She is survived by her husband, Leroy Pohlmeier of Nazareth, 1 son, J.C. Pohlmeier and wife Jocelyn of Nazareth, 8 daughters, Linda Kendrick and husband Bob of DeSoto, TX, Pam Bogle and husband Lyn of Center, CO, Brenda Conrad and husband Tom of Colorado Springs, CO, Monette Schilling and husband Randy, Karen Schulte and husband Greg, Jolene Schulte and husband Dwayne, and Lisa Pohlmeier all of Nazareth and Rachelle Wilcox and husband Morris of Lubbock, TX, 4 sisters, Viola Pohlmeier of Tulia,TX, Jean Bell of Grandbury, TX, Evelyn Hill of Lubbock, TX, and Delores Heiman and husband Dennis of Nazareth, 23 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Clifford Stork and Eugene Stork, 2 sisters, Florene Leinen and Virgie Gerber and 1 grandson, Chase Schulte.
