Dorothy Jean Walker passed away at the age of 73 in Amarillo, Texas, on Sunday, February 18, 2024. She will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 24, 2024, A wake will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 9:00-11:00 A.M. with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Walker family has entrusted Funeral Services to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Dorothy was born to her loving parents, Jake Ward and Ora Lee (Robertson) Ward on August 13, 1950, in Dimmitt, Texas, Dorothy was raised in Dimmitt. She later moved to Hereford and eventually made Amarillo home. She was a true native of the Texas Panhandle.

Dorothy overcame many obstacles no matter how big she always held a beautiful, radiant smile that would be missed dearly by all her loving family. Dorothy raised all her children while she was in a wheelchair most of her life. Dorothy has instilled many life lessons into her children, but her remarkable bravery will be carried on by her loving family. Dorothy cherished her time with her family and loved to spend family time, especially her "happy time" having the music on and not a thing to worry about but laughter and love to share. She enjoyed playing dominos and spades in her spare time. Dorothy was looked at by her family as their "motivation" she will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Dorothy's brave spirit will be cherished, and a legacy well lived will be carried on by her loving children, Sharon Lynn Ward and her husband LeeRoy Rivers, Jr., Perry Walker, Wanda Walker, Barron Dale Walker and his wife Amber, Ginger Walker all of Amarillo, Texas; her sibling's, Sandra Ward of Dallas, Texas, Joyce Ward, Kirk Ward all of Amarillo, Sylvester Ward of Lubbock, Texas, Wanda Ward of Tulia, Texas; one loving sister-in-law, Mary Lou Ward of Dimmitt, Texas; her caring 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews

Dorothy is preceded in passing by her parents, Jake Ward and Ora Lee (Robertson) Ward; her brother, Willie Earl Ward, Walter Lee Ward, Cecil Ward; her sister, Pulley Ward
