Dwight Walter Coventry, 78, of Lubbock passed away on July, 11, 2014 in Lubbock. Memorial service will be held at Cooper United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 2:00PM. Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:00AM in the Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral of Home of Dimmitt. Dwight Walter Coventry was born on April 27, 1936 in Lubbock to Dwight David Coventry and Verda Viola Dodd Coventry. He grew up in Olton and attended Olton High School where he graduated in 1958. Walter attended Lubbock Christian College for one year. Walter married Norma Evelyn Price on March 22, 1961. He was a founding member of the Woodrow Fire Department where he volunteered for 10 years. He was a longtime member of the Cooper United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Lubbock area square and round dance federation. Walter is survived by his wife, Norma Coventry of Lubbock, TX, 4 daughters, Kathy Coventry of Lubbock, TX, Sherry Roberts and husband Art Roberts of Shallowater, TX, Angelia Blair and husband Jim Blair of Allen, TX, and Julie Summers and husband Shannon Summers of Lubbock, TX, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Verda Coventry, 1 brother, Gilbert and 1 sister, Nora.
