Earl "Stoney" Stone, Jr., passed away at the age of 85, in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Hart at 2:00 P.M. with Roger Moore officiating. A burial will follow at Hart Cemetery. A family and friend visitation and viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Stoney was born to his loving parents, Earl Woodrow Stone, Sr., and Mary Margaret (Collum) Stone in Bonham, Texas, on October 9, 1938.

Stoney was a long-time resident of Hart since 1948. He owned and operated "Stones Motor Service" in Hart for 40 plus years, serving all of Castro County.  Stoney started in the automotive industry at the Chevrolet dealership in Dimmitt when it was still operating.

Stoney always had a joke up his sleeve and was ready to share his uplifting spirit with humor. Naturally, he loved to race and speed in his younger days he really had a "need for speed".

Those left to carry on his legacy are his caring sister, Betty J. Moore of Amarillo, Texas; his niece Brenda Sweet and her husband George of San Angelo, Texas, his nephew, Roger Moore and his wife Carol of Conway, Missouri, his niece, Michelle Ponder and her fiancé Drew VanVickle of Amarillo, Texas; 5 great nephews, 3 great nieces; 3 great-great nephews, 1 great-great nieces.

Those preceding him in passing are his parents, Earl Woodrow Stone, Sr., and Mary Margaret (Collum) Stone; his sister, Marilyn Covington; two brothers-in-law's, Kenneth Covington, Steve Moore.
