Elida Campos, 85, a lifelong resident of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her steadfast Christian faith.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be Monday, November 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Primera Iglesia Bautista with Pastor Fernando Fernandez officiating. Burial will follow at Castro County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with arrangements and services being entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas. Family will have a private viewing on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. Visitors will be accepted from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Colonial Funeral Home.

Elida was born in Edinburg, Tx to Ernesto Rodriguez and Guadalupe (Olivas) Rodriguez. She married the love of her life on February 2, 1952, in Littlefield. Shortly after they moved to Dimmitt and started their family. Juan and Elida had twelve amazing children. Elida was a devoted member of Primera Iglesia Bautista. She found joy and purpose within her church community. She had a passion for sewing and crocheting, which she lovingly shared with those around her. She was infamous for her homemade snow cones and tamales that she sold to the community. Above all, Elida cherished the time spent with her family, and being with her grandkids brought her the greatest happiness.

Elida leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She was the Prayer Warrior for her family. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.

Those left to remember her and cherish her memories are her children, Juanita Castillo of Dimmitt, TX., Vicenta Ozuna of Rio Grande, TX., Gloria Fernandez and husband Fernando of Amarillo, TX., Elva Garcia of Dimmitt, TX., Jessie Campos and wife Elena of Dimmitt, TX., Ortensia Montiel and husband Domingo of Dimmitt, TX., Josie Roach and Tim of Oakdale, CA., Ester Ward and husband Rowdy of Amarillo, TX. She was blessed with 51 grandchildren, 122 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Esperanza Garcia of Toppinish, WA., and Manuela Saberdra of Chino, CA. Elida had the honor of being part of 5 generations.

Elida is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Juan Campos, her children, Mary Ann Rodriguez, Susie Cardova, and Elena Hill, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters.
