Elida Reyes Gonzalez, 90, a longtime resident of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Dimmitt, with Celebrant David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow at Castro County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements and services are entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas. Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 2:00-7:00 PM, with a rosary and vigil at 6:00 PM.at the funeral home.

Elida was born on November 25, 1935, in Rio Grande, Texas, to Benito and Martina (Leal) Reyes. She became a resident of Castro County in 1959, and her family was among the first to settle there. In 1960, she married Pedro A. Gonzalez, the love of her life, and together they built a wonderful life and raised a large, loving family. Elida worked as a housekeeper for numerous Dimmitt residents, including the Wilsons, Hansons, Bagleys, Taylors, and Bryant families. She was a dedicated member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and served as a Guadalupana for many years. Elida was actively involved within the Dimmitt community, often attending football and basketball games, proudly declaring, "Once a Bobcat, Always a Bobcat." She enjoyed playing Bingo and the Spanish Loteria and was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan. Elida's vibrant spirit, laughter, and outgoing nature will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Elida's memory will be cherished by her children: Antonio "Tony" Gonzalez and his wife Victoria of Weslaco, Texas; Pat Flores of Dimmitt, Texas; Olga Puente and her husband Samuel of Weslaco, Texas; Norma Sierra and her husband Joe of Donna, Texas; Delia Castellano and her husband Tony of Lubbock, Texas; Delicia Hill of Lubbock, Texas; Amanda Gonzales-Romo and her husband Ric of Amarillo, Texas; and Elida Gonzales "ChaCha" of Dimmitt, Texas. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Elida is preceded in death by her parents, Benito and Martina Reyes; her husband, Pedro A. Gonzalez; her son, Johnny Gonzales; three brothers, Juan, Vicente, and Nacario Reyes; and nine sisters: Isabel Rodriguez, Lala Saucedo, Ofelia Anes, Celia Alvarez, Feliz Salinas, Imelda Saenz, Fidelia Rodriguez, Guadalupe Mancias, and Maria Anes
