Esther Torres Ortiz, 83, of Dimmitt passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 in Dimmitt. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 10:30AM at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Israel Olivo officiating. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at the funeral home.
Esther Ortiz was born on January 12, 1938 in Puebla, Mexico to Simon Torres and Inez (Cruz) Torres. Later in life she married Manuel Ortiz and then they moved to Dimmitt in 1972. Esther was a homemaker during the time she was raising her children and also worked for Castro County Nursing and Rehabilitation for several years. Esther loved playing loteria, working in her garden and weekend cookouts. But most of all she will be best remembered by her love for her family, having yard sales and tending to her roses.
Esther is survived by her children, Jose Antonio Ortiz and wife Bernice of Amarillo, Victor Ortiz and wife Maria of Bovina, Pedro Ortiz and wife Leticia of Dimmitt, Daniel Ortiz and wife Maria and Veronica Pacheco and husband Raul of Dimmitt, brother, Antonio Torres of Puebla, MX along with 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Ortiz, grandson, Christopher Ortiz and a sister, Angela Torres.
