Feliciano "Felix" Balderas, 88, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 8, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church with Father Arockiaraj Malapady, Father Lupe Mayorga, Deacon John Niño and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants. Graveside service will be in the Assumption Cemetery on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. in Austin, Texas. Rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with Vigil service following at the church with funeral arrangements being under the entrusted care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Feliciano "Felix" Balderas was born on September 23, 1931 to Miguel Balderas and Andrea (Uribe) Balderas in Poteet, Texas. He married Eusebia (Vasquez) Balderas in May of 1955 in Brownfield, Texas and had been a resident of Dimmitt since 1960. Felix worked for Castro County and for John Deere for several years and then worked in the maintenance department for the Dimmitt Independent School District before his retirement. While working for the school district he took care of the football field among other things but he always had a passion of making sure it was in very immaculate condition and took great pride in it. Felix was also a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church and was a very "faithful servant" who was committed on taking care of the church when needed, visiting the sick at the nursing homes and hospitals on behalf of the church and always prayed the rosary and prayed for the priest vocations while also being very accommodating to all the priest. He was also a member of Servidores de Cristo and Cursillista. He loved to play his guitar and listening to Tejano music and was known for his choir within the church for over 54 years while also teaching people on how to play the guitar throughout the years. He had other enjoyments by telling jokes and pulling a prank or two just to get a good laugh from someone while also enjoying woodworking and making special things from the wood.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Diane Snitker and husband Glen of Dimmitt, TX, Rose Ann Gonzalez and husband Rafael of Amarillo, TX, Felix Balderas and wife Susy of Amarillo, TX, George Ulloa and wife Sylvia of Buda, TX and Elsa Nevarez and husband Jose of Amarillo, TX, 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Felix is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eusebia Balderas, 2 sons, Rudy Ulloa and Henry Ulloa along with 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
