Floyd Lopez, 83, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 10:30AM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Arockiaraj Malapady, Deacon John Niño and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direct care of Colonial Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 6:00PM with vigil service to follow at the funeral home.
Floyd Lopez was born on May 10, 1936 to Cresencio Lopez and Maria (Martinez) Lopez in Karnes City, Texas. Floyd worked in the agriculture industry for many years throughout several different states. He eventually started working in the grocery business in Spearman, Texas at Cut-Rate Grocery in 1967 and then worked for Walt Hansen in Dimmitt. On September 16, 1978 Floyd opened El Sombrero Restaurant which was a favorite restaurant to many throughout the years in Dimmitt. When he was not working he enjoyed spending time on his little farm raising animals, he enjoyed dancing and listening to music, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Floyd is survived by his children, Virginia Salazar and husband Arnold from San Angelo, TX, Guadalupe (Lupe) Rodriguez, Marcos Lopez both of Dimmitt, TX and Florencio Lopez Jr. of San Angelo, TX, siblings, Carlos Lopez and wife Estella from San Antonio, TX, Evita Gonzales and husband Victor of Woodrow, TX, Gregorio Lopez of Dimmitt, TX, Estella Lopez of Amarillo, TX and Paulino Lopez and wife Adela of Perryton, TX, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
