Fortunato Vasquez, 77, of Hart, Texas passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 in Hart. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Hart, Texas at 10:00 AM with Father Arockiaraj Malapady, Deacon John Niño and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants. Burial will follow at Hart Cemetery under the direct care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 6:00PM at the church.

Fortunato was born October 14, 1940 in Durango, Mexico to Julian and Cirila (Ontiveroz) Vasquez. In 1973 Fortunato came to Hart, Texas. He married Erma Hacker Vasquez in 1976. He worked at Hill Feed Yard for many years, he then started his own trucking company. Fortunato retired in 2010. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his son and his dog, Chico.

Fortunato is survived by his children, Isaac Vasquez and his wife Guadalupe of Hart; Ofelia Torres of Hale Center; Twila Ortiz and her husband Fidel of Hart; Jay Garrity of Tennessee; Shala Comer and her husband Charles of Gans, OK.; Michael Garrity and his wife Mary of Hart; Cody Bill Garrity and his wife Kristine of Eugene OR.; a brother Ramon Vasquez and his sisters Consuelo Trujillo, Maria Del Refugio Zepeda all of Chihuahua, Mexico; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Fortunato is preceded in death by his mother Cirila Ontiveroz and his wife Erma Vasquez.
