Francis "Fritz" Gerber, 82, of Nazareth passed away, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Amarillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth with Rev. Ken Keller and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld officiating. Burial to follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Rosary and vigil will be Friday evening at 5:45pm at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Francis was born May 10, 1931 in Dimmitt, Texas to Anthony and Mary Schmucker Gerber. He has been a resident of Castro County all his life. He married Julene Heiman on January 19, 1954 in Nazareth. He farmed all his life. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church; Catholic Order of Forresters, Knight of Columbus, American Legion #528, Senior Citizens and the Nazareth Museum. He enjoyed playing dominoes, was a big Texas Rangers fan but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren. He loved to go to his grandchildren's sporting events. He loved people and enjoyed visiting the people of his community. He was "Prampy" to all the Nazareth community. He is survived by his wife, Julene Gerber of Nazareth; 2 sons Stanley Gerber and his wife Cindy of Nazareth, Chris Gerber and his wife Kelly of Dumas; 3 daughters Lydia Schacher and her husband Rusty of Nazareth; Colleen Wilhelm and her husband Neal of Wichita Falls and Lori Bermea and her husband George of Amarillo; 3 brothers Vincent Gerber and his wife Eilene of Nazareth; Norbert Gerber and his wife Helen of Yucon, and Dennis Gerber and his wife Delores of Hereford and I sister Regina Hoelting and her husband Ronnie of Nazareth. 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 3 sister.
