Our mother and grandmother, Gail Bruegel taught volumes by her love for family and kindness to others she encountered in her 88 years of life.   She exhibited this in her church, her work at the Village Shop in Dimmitt, The Women's Hospital Auxiliary, Dimmitt Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Bethel Home Demonstration club, and was always involved in her children's activities.

She passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, after complications from heart disease.  She lived in Amarillo, Texas which was her home for the last 7 years.  Her previous homes were in Dimmitt and Tell, Texas.

Gail is survived by 3 children, Sheri Bruegel Young, Curtis Bruegel, Teresa Bruegel Kemp, 2 sisters JoAn Rule of Mt. Pleasant and Brenda Ricks of Amarillo, and 4 grandchildren, Breanna Bruegel, Perry Kemp, Christopher Bruegel, and Schuler Underwood. She also loved her 4 great-grandchildren: Faith Fletcher, Paisley Bruegel, Hendrix Melius, and Liliana Bruegel who lovingly called her "G." Many nieces and nephews will also miss her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Bruegel, her son Gary Bruegel, and her parents Odus and Pug Garrison.

Gail chose to invest her time in her family, friends, and neighbors.  She also had numerous hobbies for which she will be remembered.  She loved Christmas and red, not to be mistaken for an "orange red," and took great pride in her home and her appearance. She was known for her cheese rolls, as they were always a family favorite. She also liked to cook for her family, enjoyed canning, sewing, making quilts, gardening "in the blowing wind," and for a time even took up painting.  She was the ultimate farmer's wife and embraced her life on the farm, you rarely walked into her home without sharing a meal, dessert, or a cup of coffee and a heaping helping of hospitality.  Her children and grandchildren respected their mother and the strong bond that made them family.

Breanna, her loving granddaughter was by her bedside when she died as she was so much of the time during her life.  They were especially close, and she considered her the "glue" that kept the family together.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dimmitt Church of Christ, 101 SW 4th St., Dimmitt, Texas 79027.

Family and Friend Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt. Graveside Service will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Dimmitt, with Minister King Burney officiating. Arrangements and Services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas.
