Garner Ball, 81, of Dimmitt, passed away on November 28, 2013 in Olton, Texas. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00PM in the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt with Wayne Proffitt officiating. Burial will follow in Olton Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family visitation will be held on Sunday from 6:00PM t0 8:00PM at Colonial Funeral Home. Garner was born on February 25, 1932 in Olton, Texas to Robert William Ball and Della Taylor Ball. He grew up in Olton until 1968 when he moved to Castro County. In 1979, Garner and Ysleta moved to Dimmitt. Garner was active in the First Baptist Church and served as Deacon. He was involved in the Dimmitt Lions Club for many years, a big supporter with local sports, Dimmitt Booster Club, and a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Garner was the local photographer for every event in town, and started with the graduation class of 1982. He took photos for all DISD sports, graduation, prom, Kids, Inc., weddings, quinceneras and took the photos for Santa at the gazebo for many years. He was Castro County's City Judge for 10 years and was the democratic chairman for several years. His hobbies were photography, airplanes, he enjoyed flying, loved music but most of all his true love was his wife, Ysleta and his family. He is survived by his daughter Debra Ball of Dimmitt and one sister Gertie Waggoner of Dimmitt. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ysleta and one son Randy Ball, 2 brothers Randall Ball and Doyle Ball and 2 sisters Wauline Little and Johnnie McMillen.
