Gary Nutt, 60, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 after a short battle with ALS. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in the Fourth & Bedford Church of Christ in Dimmitt, Texas with Truitt Adair and Bailey Chisum officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 5:30PM to 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
Gary Nutt was born on May 22, 1959 in Hale Center, Texas to Charles Nutt and Dorothy (Wilson) Nutt. Gary graduated from Dimmitt High School in May of 1977. He later married Connie Calvert on September 5, 1980 in Lubbock, Texas and they were married for 39 years. They made Dimmitt their home where they raised three daughters, Charley, Bailey and Cassidy. Shortly after he and Connie were married, Gary earned a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science in 1985. From a young age, Gary always knew that his passion was raising cattle. With the help of Connie, he owned and operated Nutt Feed Yard for many years. While raising his daughters, he strongly believed in teaching them the value of hard work. Gary was a longtime member of the Dimmitt Church of Christ and believed that spreading God's word was life's greatest calling. He was a faithful servant of God and continued to use his faith to touch others around him even in his final days. Gary served with Sunset International Bible Institute on their Sunset Council Board and on the SIBI Foundation Board of Directors. Gary had always had a dream of flying and in January of 2014 he fulfilled that dream by earning his pilot's license. But most of all, Gary will be remembered for loving his family unconditionally, fishing with his grandchildren, taking them to look at cattle and spoiling them with ice cream.
Gary will be lovingly be remembered by his wife, Connie Nutt of Dimmitt, TX, 3 daughters, Charley Meadows and husband Cody of Abilene, TX, Bailey Drennan and husband Carson of Dimmitt, TX and Cassidy Gregory and husband Mitchell of Dimmitt, TX, grandchildren, Madeline, Macy, Hunter and Hayden Meadows, Ryleigh Drennan and Graham Gregory, his mother, Dorothy Webb of Dimmitt, TX, brother, Steve Nutt of Dimmitt, TX, sisters, Pamela Kelsey of Dimmitt, TX and Shelly Petty and husband Kevin of Seminole, TX along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary is preceded in death by his father, Charles Nutt and infant daughter, Katy Elizabeth Nutt.
