Gerald Layne Broadstreet, 72, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Dimmitt. Gerald was born December 23, 1941 to Elijah and Fannie Taylor Broadstreet in Lubbock, Texas. Gerald attended and graduated from the Bethel High School in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He came to Dimmitt, Texas with his parents in 1961. He was employed with the United States Postal Service and then joined the United States Marine Corp. He served his country from 1964-1968. Gerald was a Vietnam Veteran. Later he attended the Western Truck Driving School and after several years on the road he retired from Wal-Mart in 2011. He is survived by his two brothers Gene Broadstreet and his wife Peggy of Dimmitt and Glenn Broadstreet of Mariposa, CA. and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Harold Broadstreet.
