Gerardo "Jerry" Sanchez, 60, of Panama City, Florida was called home on Sunday, October 13, 2019. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 3:00PM in the Church of God of the First Born with Rev. Jesse Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
Jerry was born to Margarito and Francisca Sanchez on April 24, 1959, in Crystal City, Texas. Jerry grew up in Dimmitt and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1978. Like his father, Jerry was a skilled in many trades but honed his profession in the home building and remodeling industry, with a specialty in disaster relief construction. His profession made him a sojourner of many states but he yearned to slow down. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping for pleasure and spending time with family.
Jerry is survived by his four daughters, one son and 15 grandchildren: daughter, Alicia Sanchez and her 4 children, Jacklyn, Joslyn, and J'lyn Escamilla and Devyn Reyes of Lubbock, TX, Vanessa Gomez and husband Jose along with their 3 children, Victoria, Diego and Daniel Gomez of Florida, Cassandra Sanchez Zepeda and husband Jacob along with their 4 children Isaiah & Caiden Mendoza and Ezekiel & Calista Zepeda of Amarillo, TX, son Anthony Sanchez-Carter and his wife Vanessa, along with their 2 children, Fabian and Kiana of Amarillo, TX, daughter Amber Bechthold and husband Brad, along with their 2 children, Sophia Izabella Diaz, and Xayden Christopher Ruiz of Grapevine, TX.
Jerry is survived by six sisters and six brothers, Manuel Sanchez and wife Robin of Childress, TX, Connie Sanchez Perez and husband Santos of Dimmitt, TX, Margarito "Mike" Jr. of Lubbock, TX, Esperanza Sanchez-Benitez of San Antonio, TX, Ruben Sanchez and wife Jennifer of Lubbock, TX, Maria Sanchez Rodriguez and husband Frank of San Antonio, TX, Hector Sanchez of Lubbock, TX, Elisa Sanchez Diaz and husband Cecil of Hart, TX, Carolina Sanchez Delbosque and husband Ray of Lubbock, TX, Abraham Sanchez of Lubbock, TX, Gloria Sanchez-Barrientos of Oregon, and Jeremy Sanchez of Houston, TX. He was an uncle to over 60 nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He will surely be missed.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Margarito Sanchez, Sr., (2010), and sisters Elsa (2016), Viola, (2006), Stephen (1977) and Elizabeth (1962) and a niece Kristie Renee Perez (1979) two nephews, Blake Moreno (2006) Christopher Perez (2014) and grand- nephew, Tyliss Nieves (2013).
