Gilbert Olivarez was born on May 26, 1996, in Dimmitt and passed away on June 11, 2026. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on the lives of those who loved him will last forever.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 10:30AM at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Todd McDaniel officiating.  Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 1:00PM – 6:00PM at the funeral home.

Gilbert was the beloved son of Elizabeth Vidal and Nick Olivarez. He was a proud and devoted father to his son, Izzy Olivarez, and his daughter, Xena Olivarez, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his grandmother, Juanita Vidal, and his grandfather, David Reyes; his siblings, Alexa Olivarez, Omar Olivarez, Ayame "Chona" Sanchez, Akira "Chita" Sanchez, Dagon Vidal, Amaya Vidal, Amira Vidal, and Asher Vidal; and his beloved cats, Toast and Charlotte; as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory always.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gilbert Olivarez; his grandmother, Elma Ochoa; and his Tia, Tina Tapia, whose memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Gilbert worked for Hereford Grain Corporation⁠, where he was valued and respected by his coworkers and all who knew him. The generosity and support shown by the company during this difficult time is a testament to the relationships he built throughout his life.

Gilbert was known for his quick wit, funny and sarcastic personality, and his remarkable ability to make people laugh. His contagious laugh could brighten any room and will forever be engraved in the minds and hearts of those who knew him. He loved spending time with his family, especially his daughter, Xena. He enjoyed gaming, arm wrestling, and creating lasting memories with the people he cared about most.

More than anything, Gilbert will be remembered for the love he shared, the joy he brought to others, and the unforgettable presence he carried wherever he went. His kindness, humor, and devotion to his family leave behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Though we grieve his loss, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the love that remains. Gilbert will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
